She was gone!

she was gone!

i saw her the first time, standing in shade
tired, droopy with drops of sweat on her forehead
the blazing sun, the shadowing tree, the pollen air and the traffic's roar
were still inept to veil her hidden allure.

standing away i could only admire her astounding grace
wondering if we ever get to meet face to face
the bus came, she boarded and went like an evanescence
i ran to the place she stood, to smell her fading fragrance

days went by and so the pictures of that noon
when suddenly i saw that gracious beauty standing outside a saloon
seeing her talking to an acquaintaince, made my heart skip a beat
the hope to get an introduction raised with every trounce of my feet

i said 'hi', the friend smiled but she gave a vacant look
i said 'hello' again and her grimace was:'are you a crook'?
nevertheless, we settled for a coffee and there it all began
dropping her off on my bike and a promise to meet again

text messages, phonecalls and forward emails began to flow
i started realizing that our relationship has begun to grow
one fine day i asked her, 'do you believe in love at first sight?'
she hushed, blushed, sighed  and said 'I might'!

her words sounded that our hearts have begun a rendezeavous
and sooner 'I might' may become 'i do'!
Romantic melodies in the background gave an unerring indication
what tomorrow will bring, i was contemplating in sheer anticipation

one song after another and my feet were not on the ground
just me and her and hearts all around
in a spur of a moment the tune of the song changed
from slow rock to metal thong and my head began to shake

all the audio and video stoppped and i got a kick on my guts
as a bonus came  a holler,'get up you idiot'!!
the reality dawned upon me and i realized where i am
the same apartment room, the same cot and the clock struck 9 AM.

i cursed God, why do you make us dream with closed eyes
missing that beautiful face, with heavy heart i settled for egg fries.
leaving for work, i kicked my bike and took the race
upon reaching the bus stop i saw the same benevolent face

the pollen air, the blazing sun, the drooping shoulders and the sweat drops
she signalled to me and i felt the same heart drop
giving me a gesture she told that my headlights were on
i acknowledged, switched'em off and looked back, but she was gone!

A poem is said to be well framed if you can relate to the writing and it compels you to sail along with poet's thoughts...
Jayant's work has all these qualities..very nicely done dude :)

Nice one man....The way every guys imagination has been portrayed is fantastic...I like the non-positive ending as it adds reality to scenario...A positive one would have definitely left the reader happy but I still vouch for the present version...Keep them coming....

btw well said! every young guy will have a pleasant dream like this and its best to leav such cases open-ended!!

That was a dream. But sometimes our life becomes like dream and we realizes it when that time flows out.
